| This assignment asks students to read a poem of the teacher’s choice and discuss in groups of four or five (depending on class size) questions that the teacher poses. Afterwards, have students debate and discuss their ideas as a class and talk about their different interpretations. Great way to have students discuss their opinions regarding speaker and audience of a poem, type of poem, or message of poem, etc. It is better to pick a poem that you might think would cause difference of opinions among the students. Also, it is a way to pick a piece of poetry you like and want to introduce to the students! |
